Within District 1199C Training and Upgrading Fund’s STEAM Scholars program at Roxborough High School is a series of STEM Career Spotlight workshops that run throughout the entire school year. The goal of these Career Spotlights is to provide high school students with exposure to STEM careers and an opportunity to speak with a professional that will make something abstract, a bit more tangible.
The Greater Philadelphia Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) is an opportunity for high school students to conduct STEM research with the help of a mentor. Students will present their findings at the Regional JSHS in March. Students have the opportunity to win scholarships and move on to compete in the National JSHS. The JSHS Mentor sign-up form is now closed.
Tech Camp is an after school program at School of the Future that matches high school students with professionals in tech to collectively design a build a website that aims to solve a local, national, or global issue.
The Urban Farming Project is an after school program for K-5 students at Dr. Ethel Allen Promise Academy where students will participate in meaningful gardening lessons and outdoor activities with mentors.
