The Greater Philadelphia JSHS invites the participation of all middle school students (grades 6 – 8) enrolled in a public, private, or home school who are interested in engaging in STEM. Students will work with a mentor to design an original research project, which may include experimental research, field research, observational research, or applied research. Library research should be part of the research process, but by itself is not appropriate.
Students will design an original research project, perform their experiment, and communicate their results with an abstract and poster. Their abstract will be submitted and evaluated, and semi-finalists will be selected to show off their poster at the regional JSHS. For more information about the competition categories and expectations for the poster, click here.
Students will submit their abstract via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The regional JSHS will take place at Temple University’s Science and Education Research Center (North 12 Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122).
We are not currently accepting JSHS applications. Check back here for the pre-application, which will open in October 2018.
