The Greater Philadelphia JSHS invites the participation of all high school students (grades 9 – 12) enrolled in a public, private, or home school who have completed or wish to complete an original research investigation in STEM. Experimental research, field research, observational research, and applied research are eligible; library research alone is not appropriate, though it is part of the research process. Click here for additional eligibility and scholarship requirements.
Students will compete in one of eight categories. They will design a research project, perform their experiment, and communicate their results. Their paper and abstract will be evaluated, and semi-finalists will be selected to give an oral presentation on their work in front of a panel of judges at the regional JSHS. Finalists will be chosen to represent our region at the national JSHS. For more information on the competition categories and expectations for the deliverables, click here.
The Greater Philadelphia Regional JSHS will be held at Temple University on March 17. The date and location of the National JSHS is TBD. Interested students can fill out a Pre-Application here.
